Floods in Pakistan

            Pakistan has been severely affected by unprecedented floods caused by heavy rains. It has led to loss of human lives and crops besides widespread loss of livestock, physical communication infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Punjab and Balochistan.

            Enitre towns and villages have been inundated leading to displacement of more than  2.5 million people. Already more than 1600 deaths have been reported from affected areas. Nearly 50,000  houses and vast swathes of standing crops have been destroyed.

            The  government and the people of Pakistan are trying their best to cope with the challenge. The federal and povincial governments have launched a full fledged Rescue and Relief Operations in affected areas. Ration packs, emergency food items, tents, plastic mats, blankets are being delivered to flood-affected population on priority basis.

 Donations/Assistance  

            The Pakistani-Canadian community has a great  tradition of helping their Pakistani brethern in need whenever there is a humanitarian crisis e.g. the 2005 Earthquake in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. It is time for this great community to stand up and be counted in this noble endeavour again.

             At this point in the relief effort, cash donations are preferable to donations in kind. Cash donations can be made out to the National Disaster Management Fund to the following accounts:
